Islamabad:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif revealed Friday that Pakistan would host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in 2027 and instructed the city administration to start preparations well in advance.
When we spoke at the inauguration of the T-CHOWK FLY over project, PM said the preparations include the construction of new accommodation and beautification of the capital. He mentioned that Tadsjikistan has gifted plants and CDA and other teams are working on plantation efforts.
PM Shehbaz said the T-Chowk Flyover project would be a landmark development for the residents of Twin Cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad and their surrounding areas.
He noted that the proposed railway car project would further facilitate the journey of residents of Twin Cities, adding that the government would ensure high quality of development projects.
The premiere said that a mile-long flyover at the intersection of T-road and Islamabad Express Highway would facilitate traffic between the two cities and nearby areas.
At the ceremony, Interior Minister Naqvi said the T-CHOWK aircraft would be completed within 150 days, with the guaranteed highest quality standards.
During a briefing, the prime minister was informed that the project would cost RS1,495 billion and is expected to facilitate daily traffic for 41,572 vehicles.
The project officially starts on Friday and is expected to be completed by February 9, 2026.
The Islamabad Expressway project was already completed, but it was decided that the formal inauguration would be held when the final segment (T-CHOWK FLYOVER) was carried out, the minister noted.
He praised the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Norparse and other relevant stakeholders to design the T-CHOWK FLYOVER project in a way that no additional land purchase is required, saving RS7billion in the process.
