The murder of Charlie Kirk hit close to the home of Oregon football coach Dan Lanning, who recently found out that Kirk was a fan of Lanning’s own ducks.
Lanning offered his condolance to Kirk’s wife, Erika, and their two children after their 34-14 win over Northwestern on Saturday.
But in a long -standing response regarding the current culture of the United States, Lanning asked Americans to look at his own dressing room and said, “The people in this world can learn a lot from [it]”

“You walk in the dressing room, you have guys of different races, guys with different backgrounds, different religions, and you got a team that loves each other. Tons of differences. Where they come from what they handle, and ultimately got a team that loves each other and I think we’re missing some of it in our country,” Lanning said.
Lanning has been obvious about Pistoli before, and he got his voice heard again on Saturday and condemned the “evil” that led to Kirk’s murder as well as children’s sliding deaths.
I recently found out that Charlie Kirk was an Oregon fan, right? I didn’t know. I hurt his wife, Erika, and their children. That kind of evil should never exist in our country, and that’s what it is – the evil. I remember having to explain it to my family, right? “I remember sitting down on my kids explaining what happened and they talk about people talking about it in school. And it’s just sad, right?” Said Lanning.
“But it’s just as sad – every day it seems that we are dealing with some kind of violence that is going on in our country, whether it is schoolchildren in Colorado or children in Minnesota in churches. I mean life matters, and I think we have lost sight of it. a bunch people there. ”

Lanning also had a strong message to those who disagreed with him about political and social issues.
“Just know this – I love you. I love you absolutely, right? And life matters. And there’s no way Charlie should find his family experiencing, there’s no way for evil to exist in this world.”
Lanning then called for gun reform for “sick people” and more protection of children in schools.
“And we have to continue to identify and point it out and make sure it is absolutely evil. There is no reason in the world that our children should be concerned about sending our children to school. It is our most valuable item in the world. They need to be protected. And reality is just not very common sense on both sides.

“Common sense says, ‘Oh, it’s mental health, right?’ Common sense says, ‘Oh it’s guns.’ Do you know what?
A suspect, Tyler Robinson, is in custody after Kirk’s assault.
