Lahore:
River levels across Sindh remained tall Saturday, prompting authorities to stay aware and continue flood preparation measures. The increased vigilance comes after storming monsoon rains released widespread destruction in Punjab, flooding villages, harmful crops and displaced thousands of people.
Massive flooding over Punjab’s biggest rivers have left more than 4.5 million people affected, which has asked what officials describe as the province’s biggest rescue and relief surgery in history.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), heavy floods in Ravi, Sutlej and Chenab Rivers have flooded over 4,700 villages. At least 101 people have died in flood -related incidents in Punjab, while nearly 2.5 million inhabitants have been moved. Authorities have also evacuated more than two million livestock.
Auxiliary Commissioner Nabeel Javed said that 392 emergency relief camps, 493 medical camps and 422 veterinary units operate throughout the province. “We work around the clock to ensure that affected families get shelter, food and medical treatment,” he told journalists.

Record the water level
PDMA reported extremely high flood levels at key points. At the head Punjnad reached the water flow 575,000 CUSERCS, while the levels of the head Muhammadwala rose to 410.5 feet against a hazard mark of 417.5 feet. At Sher Shah Bridge, the water topped the water at 392.7 feet close to the critical threshold of 393.5 feet. Officials expect flowing in these places to disappear in the next 48 hours.
Ravi by head Sidhnai experienced mid -level floods, while Sutlej at Ganda Singh Wala and Sulaimanki remains at low flood levels. Precipitation has ceased in upper drainage areas, so rivers elsewhere can begin to return to normal.
At Indus, the Guddu barrier registered high flood levels with a discharge of 561,000 CUSERCS, while Sukkur blocked medium flood with 472,000 CUSSCS. Kotri Barrage experiences low flood levels.
PDMA -Human Director Irfan Ali Kathia called the situation historically. “For the first time in Punjab’s history, all major rivers witnessed flooding at the same time,” he said, adding that Ali Pur and Jalalpur Pirwala are no longer under immediate threat.
Kathia said more than 28 districts and thousands of settlements were flooded on top of floods. “This is Punjab’s largest rescue operation. Over 2.5 million people have been evacuated and five helicopters have operated continuously in Multan and Rahim Yar Khan regions in the last 72 hours,” he said.
In an unprecedented step, he highlighted, Punjab has inserted airline drones to deliver emergency supplies to difficult accessible areas.
