Guddu Barrage Records High Flood when the Indus River swells over Sindh

The water level in the Indus River climbed to dangerous levels on Sunday, when heavy streams from Punjab reached Sindh, causing a high flood at the Guddu barrier.

Inflow was 612,269 CUSSCS AND EXAMINATION 582,942 CUSSCS. People in low -lying areas were warned to move to safer places.

Large areas of agricultural land were flooded, which damaged thousands of hectares of crops, and river villages near Kandhkot were reported underwater.

Pakistan Navy’s emergency team teams, equipped with hovercraft, lifeboats and divers, perform relief operations in Kashmore, Ghotki, Sukkur and Shikarpur.

Sindh -Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said the river Indus remains in high flood at Guddu -blocking and medium flood at SUKKUR BARRAGE, with provincial authorities continued rescue and relief operations.

Memon told an influx and outflow of 402,919 CUSERCS in Panjnad, 612,269 and 582,942 CUSERCs in Guddu, 488,820 and 438,390 CUSERCS at SUKKUR and 274.129 and 261,399 CUSERCS at Kotri Barrage.

Over the past 24 hours, 5,269 people were moved to safety, which brought the total moved to 163,364. Another 252 residents from river areas were moved to emergency camps, where 469 people are currently housed.

The provincial government has established 177 permanent and mobile health places treating 6,596 patients in the last day and 84,118 in total.

Cattle relocation also continued with 11,569 animals moved in 24 hours, which raised the total amount to 438,835. Veterinary teams treated or vaccinated 51,308 animals in the last day a total of 1,232,223.

Memon said that close monitoring of all barriers and medical and relief support will continue.
