- IPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max offers faster charging times
- You also need a compatible charger to get the top speeds
- Only one matching charger is currently available from Apple
The Apple iPhone 17 series is now official, but we are still learning some of the finer details on these phones and their specifications: And it seems you need a specific charger to get the fastest charging speeds from the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max.
As discovered by tipster shrimp program (via 9TO5MAC), the impressive charging times for these two premium hand sets are to 50% of a fee of as little as 20 minutes to support USB-PD (power supply) system.
In particular, it uses the USB-PD 3.2 SPR ADS specification, and is currently launching the only charger on the market that supports the same standard, Apple’s own 40W dynamic power adapter, next to iPhone 17 phones and price for $ 39. In addition, Apple only sells that in certain regions and it is not available in the EU.
Any regular USB-C charger will work with the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max of course, but you will not get the super speed charging speeds that Apple has talked about, without also having Apple’s own charger.

A recent news I found out just nowiphone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, which had the latest charging protocol PD3.2 SPR AVS, and currently Apple only sells a charging brick with the spec (40W brick that has just been released) capable of charging 50% in just 20 minutes pic.twitter.com/1kwkrd9rioSeptember 13, 2025
It is not clear how long it can take third-party accessory manufacturers to push chargers that support USB-PD 3.2 SPR AVS, but specif not been out for a long time. Obviously, the more people get the new iPhones, the bigger the market for update chargers.
The charging speed you need to stop if you do not have Apple’s 40W dynamic power adapter depends on the charger. According to 9TO5MAC, with something like Ankers 45W Nano change, you would get up for a 50% charge instead of 20 minutes – so that’s not necessarily a huge difference.
We should know much more about the new iPhone 17 series, including charging times when they have been sent to users. All four models will be available from Friday, September 19, and pre -orders are already open.
In addition to battery charging times, we are also wondering about the life of the battery on these new handsets, especially on the super-slim iPhone Air-beautiful Apple Boss Tim Cook has promised “great” battery life on the handset.
