- Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max is teased
- These phones have an iPhone-inspired name and camera blocks
- However, they also have prominent features such as a rear screen and a powerful new chipset
Xiaomi has just teased his next flagship telephone series, and so far there are three quite remarkable things about these handsets – two of which sound promising and the other is more questionable.
The questionable aspect is the name, especially of the top model, Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. Yes, you read the right one: Xiaomi’s next flagship phone is called Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. As a reference, the current top model in the Xiaomi 15 Ultra series is.
So Xiaomi has jumped number 16 in all likelihood of collapsing with the same number as the iPhone 17 series. In addition, it is renamed to the top model to match the naming of the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
In addition, the camera block looks at the new Xiaomi flagship-vist in a teaser video (via Android Authority)-broader and more iPhone 17-Pro-like here than on previous models.
But in justice, Xiaomi seems to take advantage of the big camera blocks than apple better, because it is rather than much of it is just empty space, it houses a ‘magic back screen’.
This is a secondary screen on the back of the phone, one you can use to view the clock that a search for selfie photos (meaning you can use the main cameras for them) and to view information from apps.
In fact, this is not a new thing for Xiaomi as the company tried a similar idea with Xiaomi Mi 11 ultra years ago. In my opinion, it made it one of the most interesting phones of that year, and while the Xiaomi ditched the rear screen for subsequent models, I am glad to see that it is returning here – and in what seems to be a bigger and more skilled shape.
This can be really useful and should definitely help Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max stand out from rivals – including the iPhone 17 series.
Extreme power too
The second notable aspect of these phones is that they will be the first to use Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Extreme Edition.
Breaking it down is Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 The confusing named sequel to Snapdragon 8 Elite – a chipset that runs many of this year’s best Android phones.
So it is very new and very powerful, and the extreme version is even more powerful, with this with a slightly faster 4.7 GHz Prime CPU core.
These phones are set to launch by the end of September, so there is not long to wait for them – even if they will launch globally at the time or originally just in China, to see.
But every time they land, thanks to the rear screen, they have a chance to be among the most interesting handsets available.
