- Lavazza assoluta is a new bean-to-cup espresso machine
- It is optimized to work with lavazza’s coffee, selected using the mobile app
- It is available to buy directly from lavazza and is half price with a subscription
Italian coffee specialist Lavazza has launched a new automatic espresso machine that not only looks good, but promises to help get the best taste out of your coffee by automatically configuring his own settings that fit your chosen beans.
Lavazza Assoluta is not the only machine that can tailor brewery to suit various beans (De’longhis Bean Apapt technology works in a similar way), but assoluta is designed to work specifically with Lavazza’s own blends, which you can choose through Piacere Lavazza Mobile app (available for iOS and Android).
Most coffee maker -Apps offer only tips for maintenance (such as warn you when it’s time to run a Descaling program or change the water filter), but the Lavazza app allows you to scan the barcode on a bag of beans and then use this information to tailor the infusion settings.
The daily grinding
Like De’Longhi’s machines, Assoluta requires you to adjust the grinding size by hand, but unusual for a bean-to-cup machine, it only offers two settings: coarse and fine (mostly espress machines offer between 12 and 20 settings), but I am interested in how it works to work with specific types of coffee, so getting consequent results without dialing How it works, how it works in working with specific types. (You can use other types of coffee, but Lavazza recommends sticking to its own for best results).
The assoluten certainly looks out of the part with a compact, coffee -brown chassis and clean lines to look right at home in a modern kitchen.
Assoluta costs £ 699 (approximately $ 950 / AU $ 1,400) and is only available via Lavazza’s website. If you want fresh coffee beans delivered to your door, you can get a 50% discount on the machine when you subscribe to one of Lavazza’s coffee plans.
I’m starting to test Lavazza Assoluta next week to see how it compares to its rivals and whether it can earn a place in my guides for the best coffee machines and best espresso machines.
