Emma Heming Willis has joined forces with Maria Shriver to promote her new memoir The unexpected journeyThere chronicates life as a caregiver for man Bruce Willis in the middle of his battle with frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
The book that was released last week under Shriver’s imprint The open fieldA subsidiary of Penguin BooksReflects Heming Willis’ personal experiences that nurture the 70 -year -old actor after his diagnosis.
In a video that was shared on Instagram, Emma released a mounting from a Live Speaking Los Angeles Event where she performed in conversation with Shriver.
The clip was set to Blame meA song by Willis’ daughter Scout, from his first marriage to Demi Moore.
Emma described Shriver as “my mentor and publisher”, Emma thanked her community of supporters and wrote, “I have been surrounded by love and support, from people I have known forever for nursing staff I have just met, associated with the same unknown thread that binds us together.”
The Willis family, including Demi Moore and daughters Rummer, Scout and Tallulah, have been gathered around Bruce since he stepped away from shopping in 2022 after being diagnosed with aphasia, which later advanced to FTD.
A family insider recently told Daily Mail This Bruce “goes downhill quickly” and struggles to recognize some faces.
Emma has since revealed that she made the “hardest decision” to move him into a separate one-story home with a care team while continuing to bring their daughters Mabel and Evelyn to frequent visits.
Talking during a recent ABC Special with Diane SawyerExplained Emma, ”Bruce is still very mobile and in great health in general – it’s just his brain that fails him. We have a way of communicating that is different, but I’m grateful that my husband is still very much here.”
