Steelers Honor Loved Journalist Dale Lolley who died at 56

The Pittsburgh Steelers organization is filled with heavy hearts this week.

Veteran journalist and long -time contributing author and editor Dale Lolley has died, the team announced on Wednesday. He was 56.

Lolley had previously been diagnosed with cancer.

In the late 1980s, the beginning of what would be Lolley’s long career covering the great NFL franchise.

Lolley had Stints on DK Pittsburgh Sports, Steelers Digest and other publications during his prominent career. In 2022 he became Steeler’s contributor.

“I’ve spent more than half of my life covering the team. If I don’t write about them, I’m talking about them. That’s what I do,” noted valleys on steelers.com in 2022. “There have been hundreds of victories and losses, lots of AFC championship games, Super Bowl -winner and loss along the way. And thousands of stories. At the end of the day it is always around the stories.”

Lolley also worked as a filling HOST under Select Steelers Radio Network broadcasts in 2008. In 2014, he was a full-time host of a weekday show and podcast.

Lolley, a Fryburg, Pennsylvania, native, educated from the University of Pittsburgh in Johnstown. The university said that losing Lolley left the community “deeply sad.”

“Dale Lolley was a very talented and passionate enthusiastic chronicle of thousands of stories that Steeler’s nation enjoyed for over three decades. Lolley is survived by his wife, Amy and their three children.
