Tampa Bay Buccaneers Quarterbak Baker Mayfield was fired up when he ran for a first down in the fourth quarter of their victory against Houston Texans on Monday night and let defense back CJ Gardner-Johnson know about it.

On the third down with approx. 9:22 Back on the clock, Mayfield ran in 16 yards to continue the drive. He and Gardner-Johnson exchanged words before going back to their respective hugs. Unfortunately for the team at that time, the drive would end on a blocked punt. Mayfield was still able to help Buccaneer’s Eke out of a win over Houston and improve to 2-0 a year.

Mayfield’s fiery competitive style did not end when the clock hit triple zeros. He sent a series of photos from the game, leading with a picture of himself and Gardner-Johnson face to face on Instagram.

“Built different. 10 toes down,” he wrote as caption. Gardner-Johnson replied and said, “Boy this sweet but still ringless.”

He talked more about bloating under his media availability with journalists on Wednesday.

“We’re not taking anyone’s—-,” he said via ESPN. “It’s about that.”

What to know about week 3 in the 2025 NFL season

Mayfield said he was doing well despite getting some hits and started on long runs during the game.

Jets are 0-2 to start the year. They allowed 218 passers -by yards to Aaron Rodgers and Pittsburgh Steelers and 179 transfer yards to Josh Allen and Buffalo Bills. In both matches, Jets allowed at least 30 points.
