- Amazon to raise the fulfillment and transport average wages for $ 23/hour
- Healthcare plans to fall by 34%from $ 5 per day. Week to Entry-Level Plan
- Free education, pension savings and parental leave also offered
Amazon has stated that it will increase the standard of living for US fulfillment and transport employees in a huge investment of $ 1 billion to raise wages.
Average salary across these two types of role raises to over $ 23 per hour with total compensation (including benefits) that peaked $ 30 per hour.
This means that full-time employees will see an average annual salary increase of $ 1,600, with long-term employees getting an extra $ 1.10- $ 1.90 per hour.
Amazon increases wages throughout the United States
This comes as long -term employees with more than three years of service have already seen a 35% wage growth.
But Amazon is not only obliged to increase wages-it will also make healthcare more accessible to its workers, dropping the health plan to $ 5 a week with $ 5-Copays, marking a 34% decrease in weekly contributions and a very welcome 87% decrease in copays.
“From small changes such as making it easier to spend flexible time, to major updates such as expanding educational programs or updating healthcare options, we are constantly listening and working to get better every day together,” shared Amazon Worldwide Operations SVP Udit Madan.
The company will also offer healthcare workers to full -time workers from day one, with 100% free teaching across learning opportunities from 475 partners also offered. Other perks of working for the company include company 401 (K) that match for pension savings, flexible leisure, paid parental leave and 24/7 mental health support.
It comes as federal minimum wage remains a very low $ 7.25/hour, making Amazon an important part of local economies and communities.
However, the company is not without its disadvantages, and by 2024 workers went off at seven US facilities during the high season after failing to negotiate contracts and allegedly unreasonable workers’ treatment.
