- UX 3.3 Increases the drag capacity and offers new camera functions
- Event recording works as a built-in dash-cam
- Halo Safe functionality can protect the vehicle when parked
Owners of Lucid Motors’ high-tech SUV Throw will receive an over-the-air update that brings some impressive new features.
Baptized UX 3.3, the upgraded operating system now offers the possibilities for users to determine destinations in the navigation, while the card itself has been fine -tuned to give a better indication of the distance, it is possible to travel on EV’s remaining charging.
According to the California company, the sound system has also been optimized to reduce the background noise when making and taking calls.
But perhaps most interesting of all is the introduction of a live viewing feature that utilizes the power of the many external cameras to stream live footage to Lucid’s smartphone app.
The software is in beta and gravity owners can try it for free until the end of the year. There is no word about the cost after that.
This lives into the brand’s latest Halo Secure feature, which is lifted directly from the Tesla Playbook and allows owners to monitor the vehicle externally via the app.
In addition, Drive Recorder also acts as a built-in Dash-Cam. As long as the user connects an external storage device, such as a USB dongle or a portable hard drive, the gravity automatically detects and stores significant events, such as extreme or sudden braking, sharp steering inputs or a collision – all assisted by the various on board sensors.
It is a feature that has been heavily influenced by Tesla’s groundbreaking use of autopilot cameras, which can also save recordings on a USB device either manually, or automatically when an incident is detected by the company’s sensors.
Draws power
The clear gravity can handle a maximum towing capacity of 6,000 kg, which is not up with Rivian’s R1T or the various electrical pickups on the market, but it is good enough to transport lighter lifestyle accessories (boats, jet skis, motorcycles, etc.).
Lucid knows that it is a large selling point, so has also introduced a number of improved tensile features, including a new draft mode that optimizes the vehicle settings for maximum performance and comfort.
There are also integrated trailer brake controls for the trailers equipped with electronic brakes and a special camera display in the rear selection monitor, which allows the owners to keep an eye on their precious belongings as they pull.
According to the Lucid owner’s group, these updates can be activated with a simple OTA update, which in turn proves that software defined vehicles are really improved with age.
