Curtis who wrote Mary Tyler Moore Show Theme -Song, died on September 19 after a sudden illness.

The statement reads: “I am the heart bridge to tell you that my father Sonny died yesterday after a sudden illness. I am so grateful that I was with him at the end with my mother. It was peaceful and he did not suffer.”

“He was 88 years old and he lived a more extraordinary life than someone I had ever met. He marked himself in this world and he marked himself on the heart of everyone who knew him. It is a sad day, but what a life. May we look at his life with joy rather than sadness. He would have wanted it,” it read further.

Sonny Curtis’ music left an indelible mark on both rock history and TV culture.
