The Longhorn star ended a nine-play, 60-yard drive with a five-yard touchdown race with 45 seconds back in the first quarter. As he entered the final zone, a Bearkat’s defender spun and continued to talk garbage as he stood over him. There was a short skirmish before the players went back to their sidelines.
Of course, Manning was fired up.
“He got his Swagger back,” Texas Senior Safety Michael Taaffe told journalists after the game. “Everyone knew it was in there. What he showed tonight is what we expect.”
Manning said he was worried that he would have received a sparse punishment after the move.

“Probably a little there. My mother was pretty angry with it,” said Manning. “I think it was some built up frustration in the past few weeks.”
Manning looked completely different compared to the first three weeks of the season. He fought against San Jose State and Utep for the past two weeks, but he looked comfortable against Sam Houston State.
“When he plays a little looser and he is free, it’s the best version of Arch,” said Longhorn’s head coach Steve Sarkisian. “He got started and started throwing the ball. Started using his legs. You could feel jumped in his steps on the field.”
