FYI.RAIDIO is “not just another streaming service”, we are told: It uses AI -Personas that you can interact with in real time. You can find out if the music playing, exploring the artist’s back stories, discovering if they are playing near you, or just a few lifestyle tips. And according to FYI.RAIDIO, Persona’s “designed to reflect different cultural perspectives” so your interactions will feel friendly and relevant.
To access the service, you can press my button on the speaker or go via the FYI app. To make it “transforms the speaker from a passive device into a responsive companion who listens, informs and entertains.”
What is the plan, will.i.am?
We’ve been chatting about AI and music technology with Will.I.am this year and he had some interesting things to say. He told us that AI would turn speakers into communicators where your speaker became a “fantastic gang joint case”.

What if “You could just network with smart intelligent experts across these different domains, but make them feel hyper expressive, quasi human -like?”
The radio or raidio app is part of it, so rather than seeing it as an independent feature it may be better to think of it as a preview: Today it is music, tomorrow it can be all kinds of communication.
As will.i.am told us, he will scale: With a little help from Qualcomm, he will “take our solution to more vehicles, more devices, more TVs, more speakers.”
