PM pushes timetable to spur trading, investment

London:

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday ordered the relevant authorities to develop a comprehensive roadmap and a reform agenda with practical projects to promote investment and trade in all key sectors.

Chairman of a high -level meeting via zoom on improving investment volume, economic and trading activities in Pakistan, the prime minister emphasized that agriculture, it, minerals, tourism and renewable energy were important sectors that could attract foreign investment.

Together with investments, he said that promotion of trade was also part of government policy to significantly increase exports of the country.

The Prime Minister said goals had been given to the ministries to utilize all available resources to ensure timely ending of all ongoing projects.

He also instructed all ministers to identify possible projects and take immediate steps to put them into practice. For this purpose, he said that a roadmap and a reform agenda should be devised with the future in mind so that progress can be made towards our goals in an organized way.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the private sector will play a key role in the financial roadmap and that their participation will be secured. “Our ongoing economic and economic reform policy has given a new direction to the economy, and because of innovation and transparency, the country is now on the development path,” he added.

Later, Prime Minister London left to New York to attend the 80th session in the United Nations General Assembly.
