- Nvidia will give at least 10 gigawatts (millions of GPUs) to Openai
- Deal could be worth up to $ 100 billion, says Nvidia
Nvidia has lifted the wrapping of a multi-billion dollars investment to Chatgpt Maker Openai as part of its plans to take the company’s AI infrastructure to the next level.
At least 10 gigawatts of NVIDIA systems are set to operate Openai’s next generation models, which is equivalent to millions of GPUs, with Nvidia plowing up to $ 100 billion to Openai gradually as each gigawatt is deployed.
“Nvidia and Openai have been pushing each other for a decade, from the first DGX super computer to the breakthrough of Chatgpt,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia. “This investment and infrastructure partnership marks the next jump forward – drafted 10 gigawatts to run the next era of intelligence.”

The two companies confirmed that the first gigawatt to use the Vera Rubin Platform could come online as early as the second half of 2026.
In his announcement, Openai named Nvidia as its “preferred strategic calculation and network partner”, noting that the two companies will “co-optimize their timetables” to customize Openai models and infrastructure with NVIDIA hardware and software.
In the next three years since the public preview launch, Chatgpt and Openai’s other AI tools have overall over 700 million weekly active users and continued growth mandates further expansion.
This initiative has been described as the largest AI-Infrastructure project in history, and it can lead to the next generation’s super-intelligence.
“Everything starts with calculation,” said Sam Altman, co -founder and CEO of Openai. “Calculate infrastructure will be the basis of the future economy, and we will use what we build with Nvidia to both create new AI breakthroughs and strengthen people and businesses with them on scale.”
The news comes shortly after Openai revealed Project Stargate, a $ 500 billion push to build new AI infrastructure with Nvidia and Oracle.
“We are pleased to implement 10 gigawatt calculation with Nvidia to push the boundary of intelligence and scale the benefits of this technology to everyone,” Openai President Greg Brockman concluded.
