Jimmy Kimmel returned to the air on Tuesday night after almost a week’s long suspension, but stopped issuing a full excuse for his controversial comments about the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
In his emotional monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The host of the late night said he never intended to make light on Kirk’s death that took place earlier this month at an Utah Valley University event.
Kimmel tried to clarify previous comments suggesting that the suspected shooter, Tyler Robinson, was associated with the Maga movement.
“You understand that it was never my intention to make a light over a murder of a young man. I don’t think there’s anything fun about it,” Kimmel told the studio audience that gave him several standing ovations. “For those who think I pointed to a finger, I get why you are upset.”
While he avoided a direct apology, Kimmel Kirk’s widow, Erika, praised Erika, to publicly forgive her husband’s alleged killer. “That’s it. A selfless grace,” he said.
The show, which was suspended last week by ABC after the backbone of Conservatives, resumed in the midst of criticism from former President Donald Trump and running boycotts against Disney.
Some ABC associated companies owned by Sinclair said they would not send out Kimmel’s program.
