New York Giants not only tests Rookie Jaxson Dart at Quarterback – he’s their guy for the rest of the season.
Principal coach Brian Daboll told New York Media on Wednesday morning that Dart, for whom they acted back to the first round of the 2025 NFL draft in April, is their intended start -quarterback instead of Russell Wilson not only this week against Los Angeles Chargers, but also for the rest of the season.
Daboll said he has had conversations with both players who will be kept private, but they both understood their roles that went on.

“The conversations I’ve had with these young men will be private. The details will be private. All I can tell you is that we go with Jaxson and we get ready to play so I won’t add too much to it,” Daboll said.
“That’s my decision and we go with Jaxson.”
Giants to start Jaxson Dart in Week 4 Against Chargers: Report
The move of Giants comes after a poor performance by Wilson in the team’s third straight loss, this time a 22-9 defeat against Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City Chiefs. While Giants’ bad start is not everyone at Wilson, Daboll and his coaching staff enough across three matches, including Wilson’s 450-Yard performance in Dallas, to go to Dart.
The Ole Miss product had backed up Wilson, the 36-year-old signal caller, through three games. He priested well in the distant season, enough to earn a place in front of Jameis Winston, another veteran -quarterback option, on Giants’ depth cards.
And Daboll has not thrown himself away from his conviction since April to get darts, as general manager Joe Schoen made an appointment to get back in the first round to neighbor him as the team’s potential quarterback in the future.
Daboll was firm, Wilson remained the team’s starter despite darts being drafted, but his decision now to go with the young gut is his alone.

“That’s my decision,” he said of Dart Move. “Again, we have conversations, we’ve said this several times, I have lots of conversations. That’s the direction I would go and that’s the direction we want to go.”
It is also not long-term to say that Daboll and the rest of this regime coaches for their job at this time when owner John Mara made it clear that he needed to see improvements from a warm 3-14 record in 2024 to get the confidence to move on with his team. There was a hype around Giants, especially after seeing how good the violation and defense looked like in the forecast.
The regular season tells the true story, and Giants have not looked like an improved team.
Could it come with darts at the helm? Apparently, Daboll hopes so.
“We’ve had three games, haven’t put it together and made the decision to play Jaxson,” Daboll said.

Rookie growing pain is sure to get to the 25th total choice, and perhaps quickly considering chargers is 3-0 and looks like one of the league’s best teams early. But as Daboll put it, Rookie -Quarterbacks don’t know until they try.
“I don’t think any rookie -quarterback is ever just ready to play,” he said. “You put him in there because you think he has done enough to show you that he can go out there and compete and he has done it every step on the road.”
Dart will not only start his first NFL start on Sunday, it will also be his first start in front of a Giant’s home crowd at Metlife Stadium at. 13 et.
