Some in the football world are concerned that Tom Brady is both minority owner of Las Vegas Raiders and a Fox Sports Color commentator in the NFL season.

The future Hall of Famer explained why he considers these people “paranoid and mistrust.”

In Brady’s weekly “Do Your Job” newsletter, he wrote about the discussion about his two roles.

“I love football. In its core it’s a principle of principle,” he began. “And with all the success it has given me, I feel that I have a moral and ethical duty to the sport, and that is why the point where my roles in it intersect is not a point in conflict, despite what the paranoid and mistrust can believe. It is rather the place from which my ethical duty arises: to grow, develop and improve the game that has given me everything.”

People who believe the intersection is a conflict of interest points to the fact that Brady has access to other teams around the NFL because of his TV role. Other owners do not get the type of conversations Brady and his partner, play-by-play advertisement Kevin Burkhardt, have weekly when preparing for “America’s Game of the Week.”

This debate was increased as Week 2’s “Monday Night Football” sent on ESPN brought Brady with a headset in a Raiders’ stand during their match against Los Angeles Chargers.

NFL dealt with this situation in a statement the next day and said Brady is “forbidden to go to a team facility for practice or production meetings.” However, he is allowed to sit in the coach booth during games, according to the league.

When Brady began broadcasting for Fox, the league set restrictions on what he could do after becoming a minority owner of Raiders. His agreement with Las Vegas was approved by league owners in October 2024.

But the league has softened these limitations, with a head being Brady’s allowance in production meetings. During these sessions, the TV team meets with the head coach and key players from each team playing that week. Brady has to do it externally, but he is still allowed in the session.

However, Brady is not allowed to be present for practice at these teams’ facilities during the week.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion takes both roles very seriously, which is why he does not want to jeopardize one of them.

“If I can bring my knowledge and experience to carry inside the Raiders organization to make sure there is another team that does things the right way, and then I can apply it to the booth, so that millions of people know and enjoy what the right way looks like, then I will have lived up to the expectations I have for myself and I would have done it in service for a much bigger duty,” he wrote in his news brev.

“When you live through uncertain and unreliable times that we are today, it is very easy to see a person’s passions and professions cross each other and believe that you look at a kind of dilemma. Because when you are blinded with mistrust, it is hard to see something other than self -interest.”

Brady and Burkhardt will be in the booth for Baltimore Ravens – Kansas City Chiefs Matchup in week 4.
