- Verizon has launched a loyalty program called Verizon Shine
- This is open to all customers
- It includes weekly freebies and contests, and lets you earn ‘Verizon Dollars’
If you’re a Verizon customer, you can now get more for your money, as the network has just launched a loyalty program called Verizon Shine — a play on ‘rise and shine’.
Verizon Shine is available now to all customers, but you must manually sign up from the My Verizon app. When you do, you’ll find a weekly drip of rewards every Monday, including various freebies and discounts from partner brands, such as free coffee from Starbucks.
You’ll also be able to enter competitions with prizes including a three-day trip to watch the World Cup final and a breakfast with David Beckham. That contest opens June 22, and others include a New York City food tour with chef Andrew Zimmern, trips to watch NFL games overseas and a dance lesson with the Rockettes.
A new kind of dollar
Plus, once you’re signed up for Verizon Shine, you won’t have to pay any activation or upgrade fees, and you’ll start earning ‘Verizon Dollars’, which you’ll earn every month worth 3% of your bill (excluding taxes and fees).
These Verizon Dollars can be used to purchase new phones and accessories, or for purchases from partner brands such as Hilton, Marriott, Starbucks, Sephora and Roblox. Although you can’t use them to discount your Verizon bill.
So there’s a lot here, and apparently no reason not to sign up for Verizon Shine if you’re already a customer. Whether that will prove compelling enough to keep Verizon customers from switching or attract many new customers remains to be seen, but it’s a nice perk for anyone who sticks with the network anyway.
