Shedeur Sanders stays third at Cleveland Browns’ quarterback -depth card, but he says he’s ready to go when his number is called.

After watching Quarterback play across the NFL for three weeks, Sanders said he is convinced he could do better than some current starters.

“I know if you see the quarterback game in the league right now, I know I’m able to do better than that,” Sanders told ESPN Cleveland.

Sanders is sitting behind veteran Joe Flacco and colleague -rookie Dillon Gabriel, who was drafted two rounds earlier in April. But Sanders said he has prepared himself as if he could be called at any time.

“I don’t think that playing or not playing is in my hands. I think, based on the situation, if things panel where I play, then I’m out there ready to play. I’m ready to play right now,” he said.

Deion Sanders predicts the son, Sheeteur, starts for browns at some point this season

“I focus every day on what I have to do, and just because of where I’m in depth, I don’t let it dictate my mind every single day. You don’t know what can happen or could happen. So it’s really just keeping the mindset of staying locked inside and staying in everything. Remaining focused on the same thing.”

Flacco was named the starter by the main coach Kevin Stefanski at the end of the training camp in August. For three weeks he has not separated himself compared to the rest of the league, but Stefanski has not made any depth card changes where Gabriel still does not back up Flacco.

The conversation with Sanders began after ESPN Cleveland asked about comments from his father, Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, who predicted his son would play at some point this season.

“Coach Prime” shared his thoughts on Monday on the “New Heights” podcast and told hosts Jason and Travis Kelce he has “got a feeling when it goes down.”

The older Sanders also said he asked his son to “be patient and be ready” for when Browns calls for him. He refused to specify when he expects Shedeur to start his first start and Keles did not push him.

Browns drafted Shedeur with the expectation of developing him for the future, with Flacco, which serves as stop gap until one of the rookies is ready. So far, the coaching staff thinks Gabriel is ahead, but the season is still young.
