Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met US President Donald Trump in the White House earlier this week on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, in what officials described as a “reset” in ties after years of alienation under Joe Biden, who never engaged Pakistan at a management level.
Shehbaz has since traveled to New York, where he will tackle the 193-member assembly today focusing on Gaza, Kashmir, climate change and other global issues.
In comments on this, Rehman said, “It’s good to engage in any country.” But, he added, the United States is guilty of deception and emphasized that Israel’s continued assault on Palestinians benefits from us.
