Jennifer Lawrence talked about the death for children in Gaza during a press conference Friday at the San Sebastian Film Festival, where she promoted her latest film, Die, My Love.
“I’m scared and it’s deadly. What happens is no less than a genocide, and it’s unacceptable. I’m afraid of my children, for all our children,” said the Oscar-winning actress in response to a question from journalists.
Lawrence, 35, also criticized the tone of American politics and expressed concern over its influence on young people.
“On top of everything else, what makes me so sad is that this respect and the discourse in American politics right now will be normal to them. I mean, the children who vote right now at 18, it will be perfectly normal for them that politics have no integrity. Politicians are lying; there is no empathy,” she said.
The actress added that ignoring global conflicts risked consequences closer to home.
“Everyone has to remember that when you ignore what happens on one side of the world, it won’t be long before it’s on your side too,” she warned.
