Tommy Fleetwood remains a thorn in Team US side.

The long-haired Brit got his third point in so many matches on Saturday morning when he and Rory McIlroy won a 4 & 2 victory over Collin Morikawa and Harris English.

Fleetwood is now 9-3-2 in its 14 Ryder Cup matches.

According to Data Golf, the mating of Morikawa and English ranked as the worst group out of 132 possible Ryder Cup pairings. But when Fleetwood is on the field, it may not mean who’s out there.

Winning is fun and Rory McIlroy enjoyed his time with Fleetwood and engaged with some fans.

McIlroy talked about interacting with the fans earlier this week and trying to find a happy medium.

“I sometimes feel in the Ryder Cup, I’ve been involved … Too much with the crowd. But then there are times when I haven’t engaged enough. So it’s really just trying to find the balance of using this energy from the crowd to burn your performance,” McIlroy said Thursday. “I felt like Hazeltine, I probably engaged too much at times, and then whistling alleys, I didn’t engage enough and felt pretty flat because of it. It just tries to find that balance.”

Europe captain Luke Donald praised Fleetwood, who did not win a PGA event until last month, to be a “world class” player.

“I think Tommy, he’s a guy who just loves to be around the team. He loves to contribute to that team. Yes, he’s a nice player to play with. I think he’s at the top of the list of many guys on the team people want to play with,” Donald said Friday.
