- Claude Sonnet 4.5 is now available
- Anthropic announced the launch today along with improvements to other existing products
- Claude code now has checkpoints and you can create files directly from Claude’s Chatbot
Anthropic has released Claude Sonnet 4.5, the next generation of its incredibly popular AI model.
The company calls Sonnet 4.5 “The best coding model in the world” and claims that it is the “strongest model for building complex agents” and for “use of computers.”
The new upgrade to Claude will be launched together with other upgrades to Anthropics’ most popular products, including control points for Claude code, so you can save your progress and scroll back to previous states, as well as code execution and file creation for spreadsheets, slides and documents from your conversation. These options will be available on all paid plans.
Alongside these major messages, anthropic also confirmed that Claude for Google Chrome will be available to anyone who had previously joined the waiting list.
Anthropic says that Sonnet 4.5 is the company’s “Most Custom Model yet” and claims that the new upgrade will “significantly improve the model’s behavior, reducing behavior such as Sycophabit, deception, power -seeking and the tendency to encourage delusional thinking.”
Claude Sonnet 4.5 is available today and prices remain the same per day. Million tokens like the previous model Sonnet 4.
A big leap forward
Openai’s latest study shows Claude Sonnet 4.1 beats GPT-5, Gemini and Starting Job Tasks in the Real World. Now, Anthropic Sonnet 4.5 shows “clear progress” of its predecessor, and not only achieves the new model higher performance in benchmarks, but it is also “better at meeting practical business needs than its predecessor, which allows our customers to do more, solve harder problems and be more creative.”
Sonnet 4.5 can now help users build custom agents using natural language, and anthropically even claims that the model can work autonomously for 30 hours, a massive improvement over Claude Opus 4’s 7-hour capacity.
Businesses are already impressed
Anthropic shared some quotes from its clients during the unveiling of Sonnet 4.5, and the model has been greeted by early adoptors with glowing praise.
Danny Wu, head of AI products at Canva, said: “Claude Sonnet 4.5 delivers impressive gains on our most complex, long-checking tasks-from engineers in our code base to product and research. It is noticeably more intelligent, which helps us push for what 240 m+ users can design with Canva.”
While Sean Ward, CEO of ITED AI, said the new model, “resetting our expectations – it handles 30+ hours of autonomous coding, releasing our engineers to tackle months of complex architectural work in dramatically less time while maintaining the relationship across massive code bases.”
Claude Sonnet 4.5 seems to be one of the biggest AI releases of the year, and although we are not yet trying it ourselves, it certainly sounds incredibly promising.
