New York Yankees entered Game 1 in their American League Wild Card series against Boston Red Sox with home field advantage and a desire to get back to the World Series.
But their hopes were stabbed Tuesday night thanks to the Red Sox star Garrett Crochet and clutch that strikes from Masataka Yoshida and Alex Bregman. Boston won the game, 3-1, and took advantage of an early advantage in the series.

However, New York failed to get a runner across the record with the bases loaded. Chapman knocked out Giancarlo Stanton, Jazz Chisholm Jr. Moved out to the right field and Trent Grisham ended the game with a strike.

Yankees’ usefulness on the record in a serious situation was historic, according to Opta statistics.
The investigative organization wrote on X that Yankees was the “first team in MLB after seasonal history that has the bases loaded with none at the bottom of the 9th, but did not score a race and lose the game.”
“We’ve played a lot on the line, apparently every single day,” said Yankees -Manager Aaron Boone via MLB.com. “Tonight was a fantastic baseball game that we just couldn’t get the last punch in. We’re ready to go and I expect us to get out and get one (in game 2).”
