In section 14, viewers finally learned the true nature of the relationship between Meeran (Khushhal Khan) and Gul Meher (Sarwat Gilani): The two have been secretly married for four years. However, The Reveal came up with a set of logistical questions that fans were quick to point out.
E.g. Got yellow married at 35, which means she is now 39, while Meeran, four years younger, would currently be 35. This means that Meeran, 35, is still a college student, something the audience found difficult to digest. “Went the same calculation when I saw the stage,” joked a user, adding a number of laughter emojis. Another who claimed to be a math teacher admitted that even her calculations did not add.
The confusion does not end there. Haroon and Gul Meher’s age difference were revealed to be eight years old, which would make Haroon a surprisingly youthful 30-year-old. “A 35-year-old man signed up for BBA as a beginner and he just missed 3 or 4 courses?” Asked an Instagram user. “How is it possible? Solve this mystery too.”
However, not everyone was concerned about the details. Some viewers felt that the age should not be in focus at all. “I think age shouldn’t be a problem,” read a comment. “The most important thing is that yellow is going through such a difficult situation. She is still sweet with everyone and now Nisa. What will she do? Such a pure soul.”
Despite loopholes, the audience has appreciated the drama to watch to touch on the sensitive topic of cousin marriages, especially those who are forced. The series sheds light on how individuals who grow up together are often pressed into conditions that are not necessarily translated into marital harmony. For many, it is refreshing to see a mainstream drama addressing this reality rather than brilliance over it.
