- FacialPro glow works with formulas to hydrate and suck impurities
- Depuffi has a plate that gets very cold or very hot, to firmly and soothes
Shark has just launched a new set that allows you to perform your own luxurious facial at home. It’s not just lotions and potions (although there are two specially developed formulas that make up part of the offer): It includes two unusual gadgets designed to help clean, sculptures, company and generally let you look like the most radiant version of yourself. This is Shark FacialPro -Glow and Depuffi.
This brand is perhaps best known for producing some of the best vacuum cleaners on the market, but it is also increasingly to cut a name for itself in the beauty room.
Shark Flexstyle is a popular Dyson Airwrap alternative, and Shark Cryoglow Light Therapy Mask has caused a voting since the launch at the end of the year.
I had a chance to test the new facial set in Shark’s London Labs a few months ago and as someone who is not very interested in skincare, I approached the experience with a healthy amount of skepticism. At the end, I was not completely sold; I had fallen with my head over heels to the Depuffi tool specifically. If I can get over the stupid name, I will only be in line with picking up one when it is launched as an independent gadget.
However, I go ahead of myself. How does Shark’s face sets work in the home? The whole process takes approx. 10 minutes. You start by predicting your skin by applying ‘DERM DETOX AHA + BHA exfoliating gel’ to loosen any dead skin cells. Then you implement the FacialPro GLOW tool. This has pure and dirty floating tanks and a selection of nozzles.
You run the nozzle over your face in set patterns and it sprays out what’s in the clean tank (water to begin with, and then ‘Hydro adds to BHA Hydrator’ to the second round) as you suck on your skin to get it clean.
When this is completed, Shark invites you to open the dirty water tank and “decode your gunk”. The water in my tank was actually quite cloudy, but I’m not sure how much of it was dirt, oil and dead skin that the facial project had extracted from me and how much was the product.
I remember I expected/would have a little more oomph from this gadget. The suction is understandably quite gentle, and combined with the fact that the nozzle is rather small meant that it did not feel like the most thorough clean. Maybe it was just the fact that central London was warmer than the sun the day I visited, and I felt especially sweat and disgusting before I headed in, but I felt I could have done with something more energetic.
I was far more impressed with Depuffi, which can be used at the beginning or end of the process. This gadget draws inspiration from Gua Sha – the traditional Chinese technique to scrape the skin with a blunt object to encourage circulation. Here the process is super charged with the addition of hot and cold therapy. Essentially, Depuffi has a plate that can become tasty hot or extremely cold in seconds.
Apparently, the combination of scraping and extreme temperatures will help you relax, improve the appearance of your face and encourage further product absorption from the previous stages. Specifically, the cold settings are to depust, define and help you look more awake while the hot settings increase circulation and help you relax.
All I know is that it felt great. The tool can change from hot to cold ultra-saving, the reached temperatures are satisfying extreme without being unpleasant (you can choose between three hot and three cold settings) and it is incredibly soothing to use.
Depuffi is currently only sold as part of the entire face set, but it has to join the shark lineup as an independent product at a later date. If you wonder, the name follows a convention used by Shark’s kitchen arm, Ninja, which is known for things like Ninja Crispi Air Fryer and Ninja Slushi Drinks Machine. However, most people do not realize that shark and Ninja are the same brand, so here it sounds especially incongruent.
Shark FacialPro Glow has a list price of $ 399.99 / £ 299.99 for the basic set. It is available to buy now directly from Shark UK and is “coming soon” at Shark USA.
