SHC Suspends Kus Review that Canceling Justice Jahangiri’s degree

Karachi: Sindh High Court suspended Friday the University of Karachi’s review that canceling the law of Islamabad High Court (IHC) Judge Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri.

Hearing a plea filing by IHCS Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, SHC bench, consisting of Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro and Justice Mohammad Abdur Rahman, also maintained Varsity from taking additional actions based on the Syndicate and Fairmen’s committees’ recommendations against the judge.

The IHC judge approached SHC and tried to declare the University of Karachi’s notification of cancellation of his degree invalid.

During today’s hearing, the University of Karachi Registrar Professor IMRAN Siddiqui appeared in court and sought time to submit an answer.

“We received the message the day before yesterday,” said Professor Siddiqui, sought more time to answer.

“How long do you need to submit an answer?” Justice Kalhoro asked.

Barrister Salahuddin, who represented Justice Jahangiri, requested the court to suspend KU’s notification until a reply has been submitted.

While he accepted the KU Registrar professor’s request for more time, the court postponed the consultation.
