Sindh High Court has issued a message to the lawyer of a petition filed by former President Dr. ARIF ALVI seeking the allocation of a permanent official residence.
A division bench of SHC picked up the petition, where the former president claimed that he is entitled to an official residence of life under the law after completing his term of office.
ALVI’s lawyer stated that his client, who served as the 13th president of Pakistan from 2018 to 2024, was originally awarded Bungalow No. 3-A on Bath Island, Clifton. Later, Bungalow # 5-A was awarded him. However, the latter property is currently occupied by a senior Customs, Shahab Imam, which has secured a residence order since 2023.

The lawyer claimed that the federal government had failed to make appropriate events for the former head of state and that the award was awarded without revealing the existing status of the bungalow. He called this attitude towards a former president as “inappropriate and unjustified.”
The petitioner asked the court ordered the federal government to extradite possession of Bath Island Bungalow to Dr. Alvi as his official residence. SHC, who issues a message to the lawyer, ordered him to submit a para-wise response at the next hearing.
