Current point Season 2 officially started production in August, which means we are one step closer to getting back on the field. And although we do not yet have a release date for Netflix’s hit sports comedy, there is still plenty to talk about when it comes to the return of the LA waves and their lucky leader, Isla (Kate Hudson).
Naving what it means to run a basketball team was the core of Season 1, and it seems that Season 2 is set to carry the torch, without a doubt with rising drama for Isla as she not only struggles with her business life but also her personal. Here’s all we know so far Current point Season 2 from the prediction of the release date, confirmed role crew, plot rumors, news and more.
Running Point Season 2: Is there a release date?
We don’t have one Current point Season 2 Release Date Right yet, but we have some exciting news to share. Thanks to an Instagram -Selfie from Kate Hudson, alias Isla Gordon, on August 15, it was revealed that Current point Season 2 is officially in production.
The show’s renewal was confirmed in an official X/Twitter post just one week after Season 1 was released on Netflix. And in the position Hudson says: “A good basketball team owner knows when to listen to fans. So we hear you. And so did Netflix. Current point is officially coming back to season two! “
If I were to predict a release date, I would look back on how filming in Season 1 began in February 2024 and the show was released a year later.
So if Current point Season 2 is back in production, it feels like we are looking at a mid-to-sen 2026 release date.
Running Point Season 2: Has a trailer been released?
There is no Current point Season 2 Trailer just yet, which is not so surprising considering that the role crew and the crew first returned to the filming in August.
Season 1 trailer fell about a month before the show fell on Netflix. So if the show shows up in the middle of the end of 2026, the trailer will also appear around that time. I will be sure to update here as soon as it does.

Running Point Season 2: Story Synopsis and Rumors
Full spoilers to Current point Season 1 to follow.
Current point Season 1 centered around Isla (Kate Hudson), who takes over as president of her family’s business – drives fictional basketball team, the LA waves. And I’m pretty sure how season 1 went down, that season 2 will be much of the same with serious business going down, as well as a lot of laughs along the way.
When Isla navigates to get her head in the game, she struggles how to take responsibility in a male -dominated world, not helped by her irregular brothers trying to cut her off at every passport, as well as players, which she can’t manage to control either.
And to throw it into the already considered mix, there is the wildly emotional, there is coherent love triangle forming between her, her fiancé, LEV (Max Greenfield) and team coach Jay Brown (Jay Ellis).
Which, if you’ve seen the Season 1 final, you know, ended up with a kiss between Jay and Isla, which is a cliffhanger who definitely needs to unpack in season 2.
Fortunately, when he speaks to TheWrap, the show’s co -creator Ike Barinholtz will reveal Season 2, which does just that: “We don’t know where it will go yet, but I can assure you that it will be hot.”
To what co-creator Mindy Kaling adds: “But then you have Max (LEV)-He is not just like a loser at home and plays video games; he is a doctor, a beautiful doctor who loves her. We just love to make it difficult for her.”
But when it comes to picking up from where the waves were left in the Season 1 final, the game lost seven of the playoffs, Kaling says it’s all part of the bigger plan: “It felt like she lost, she’s more on her heels and that it would do the next season that goes into it a little more difficult for her than to return as a reign.”
While we don’t have an official Current point Season 2 Plot Synopsis yet, Kaling revealed in March, months before production began that they had developed potential history lines: “We have small ideas because we are as if we think these characters are real and we want to think about what they are doing and have other adventures.”
Will there be more seasons with running point?
There is no news about any future seasons of Current point yet. But Showrunner David Stassen (working with long-term partners Mindy Kaling and Ike Barinholtz) told Hollywood reporter that they have many more ideas for more: “If we got carte blanche, I think we could do 10 to 20 (episodes) a year.”
Addition: “We can of course do 10. But 10 is easy. Let’s go on.” So about Current point Season 2 runs longer than the ten episodes of Season 1, or if the creators plan to save more episodes for another season, we will have to wait and watch. But the stass clearly thinks they can do it!
Plus if it comes down on, if they lack To do it, talk to TheWrap, Kaling said, “This is the most fun show I think I’ve ever worked on – I love these guys so much. I love the role crew … We really hope we can do this until the end of our days.”
