John Candy’s son Chris pulled on some heart strings and shared his deceased father’s probable reaction to the documentary, John Candy: I like me.
In a recent chat with People By a special screening of the upcoming documentary about John Candy’s life at the Montalban Theater in Los Angeles, the late comedian’s son shared his thoughts on what his father would have seen the film.
“I think he would be uncomfortable, but this is a guy who didn’t like going to his own movie premier,” Chris told the business.
The 41-year-old son of Candy added, “I hope John Candy of 2025, he would have worked on himself enough to be okay with himself, and then I know he loved himself, but yes, I think in the early phase, he would probably have felt a little uncomfortable over it all today.”
John Candy: I like me, which is produced by Ryan Reynolds is ready to release on Amazon Prime Video on October 10th.
Chris also revealed that he learned a lot about his father and his life during filming.
“I think that what was the most out to me was the influence his comedy had on comedians that I grew up [watching]“Shared Chris.
“I loved Conan O’Brien, Mr. Show with Bob and David, kids in the hall. Hearing Conan O’Brien talking about how he was such a direct influence, my father on him, and then for me to be such a fan of him – to see kind of connective tissue that my father had in the kingdom of comedy was really an overwhelming feeling.”
