Experts discuss gaps in Pakistan’s AI -Roadmap

Speakers at a Moot on Friday emphasized the need to bridge the gaps of gaps in National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Roadmap through the effective implementation of the recently launched AI policy on the country’s economy, governmental and society

The Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) hosted a high-profile seminar at Pakistan’s national artificial intelligence policy centered on the theme “Bridging Gaps in Pakistan’s AI schedule: Opportunities, challenges and the way forward.”

The event gathered decision makers, academics, entrepreneurs and industry leaders to consider the transformative potential of AI for Pakistan’s economic development, governance and a wider community.

The panel contained distinguished speakers, including chairman of the Government of Pakistan’s AI policy committee, dr Anil Salman; Membership science and technology by the Planning Commission for Pakistan Dr. Najibullah; Techvention Ltd. CEO and co -founder Suniya Shahid; and nuclear camp CEO Dr. Naveed Iftikhar, who joined the discussion practically via zoom. The session was moderated by Pide Research Economist Wajid Islam.

Dr. Salman described the Vision of Politics as bold, ethical and transformative and emphasized inclusive across economic, social and technological dimensions. He explained that the policy had been formulated through extensive consultation with domestic and international stakeholders, including UNESCO, the Asian Development Bank and Commonwealth. He expected its full implementation to increase GDP by 7-12 percent and generate up to one million jobs by 2030.

Dr. Najibullah approached the economic ecosystem and emphasized the importance of venture capital and accelerators in bridging Pakistan’s “valley of death” as they scale start-ups. He announced the creation of an RS2 billion public venture capital fund and highlighted the need to engage global accelerators to support Pakistani innovators.
