Mushtaq Ahmads secure return probably in the next few days: fo

The Foreign Office has stated that it is hopeful that the secure evacuation of the former Senator Mushtaq Ahmad will be “successfully completed within the next few days.”

The Foreign Office (FO) says it is working tirelessly to ensure a safe evacuation with the help of the Jordanian government.

“We are deeply grateful to the fraternal government in Jordan for their exemplary cooperation and generous support,” it added.

In a statement released on X on Sunday, FO said diplomatic sources in a friendly European country have confirmed that the former Jamaat-I-islami (JI) Senator Mushhmad Ahmad Khan is safe and in the detention of Israeli occupation forces.

Mushtaq Ahmad Khan was arrested by Israeli forces while aboard the global Sumud-Flotilla, which confirmed on October 2nd. Ahmad led the five-member Pakistani delegation as part of the global Sumud-Flotilla.

“We have been further advised that Ahmad, in accordance with local procedures, will be presented to a court. When issuing deportation orders, his repatriation will be facilitated on a fixed-track basis.”

According to the declaration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had already taken steps to secure the return of individuals separated from the flotilla in the initial phase.

In a post on X, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, a senior member of Jamaat-i islaami, confirmed his conversation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, saying he had called on the prime minister to “speed up the effort” to release and improve MUSHTAQ Ahmad Khan. He said the Prime Minister informed him that Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar had been assigned this responsibility.

At the appeal of Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, a nationwide protest day was observed on Friday against the Israeli attack on the global Sumud Flotilla. Similar collections were held in almost any major city in Sindh.

The global sumud flotilla, transport of medicine and food to Gaza, consisted of more than 40 civilians with about 500 parliamentarians, lawyers and activists.

The flotilla posted several videos on telegram with messages from individuals aboard the different boats, some have their passports and claimed they were abducted and led to Israel against their will, and reiterated that their mission was a non-violent humanitarian cause.

The flotilla is the most profiled symbol of resistance to Israel’s blockade of Gaza.

Its progress on the Mediterranean received international attention when nations, including Turkey, Spain and Italy, sent boats or drones in the event that their citizens demanded help, even though it triggered repeated warnings from Israel to return.
