Popular organizational and note-tag app Evernote has revealed its first major upgrade in five years, where (as is usual these days) generative artificial intelligence (Genai) is taking the center.
The release of the V11 includes several new features, including AI assistant, semantic search and AI-run meeting notes.
Although these features will certainly be the city, Evernotes V11 also introduced an updated brand identity, including an updated logo and modernized visual communication language.
Since the beginning of 2024, the company has built and implemented more than 200 product changes.
A complete fire overhaul
“The upcoming V11 release is a reflection of many years of basic work on Evernote during bending sheds, including huge investments to improve reliability and performance, over 200 new features and improvements, an updated and modern user interface and fixes for hundreds of bugs,” said Federico Simionato, product management in Evernote.
AI assistant is developed with Openai and works as a conversation companion that allows users to search and download content, change or generate content such as summary and actions and perform actions across the account, such as generating text in notes or moving notes.
Furthermore, the AI assistant can search the web without leaving the Evernote environment.
Semantic search, as the name suggests, allows users to search for content using natural language instead of keywords.
It can return information such as “London Trip” and “Edinburgh Trip” when searching for “UK holidays” and identifies key information from notes, such as flight confirmation numbers. This feature was developed internally and was one of the most requested improvements.
Finally, AI-driven meeting notes are an upgrade to the existing audio recording and transcription features that now support personal and online meeting.
It automatically generates accurate summary and transcripts with speaker recognition directly within Evernote using audio input from the computer’s microphone. This feature is a development of Evernotes AI-Transkber function that was first introduced in mid-2024.
“Overall, these changes plus new AI features and an ever-growing list of improvements, stands to make Evernote V11 the most powerful and robust version of Evernote ever,” Simionato adds.
