Islamabad:
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed on Tuesday that former Jamaat-e-Islami-Senator Mushtaq Ahmad has been released from Israeli detention and is now at the Pakistan ambassaden in Amman, Jordan.
Dar said that Ahmad was “in good health and high mood” and that events had been made for his return to Pakistan on October 9.
“I am glad to confirm that the former Senator Mushtaq has been released and now is safe with [the] Pakistan Embassy in Amman. He is in good health and high mood, “Dar said in a post on social media platform X.
Dar added that the embassy was ready to help Ahmad with his return if he wished. “[I] Is pleased to expand our gratitude to all our friendly countries that actively engaged and helped on this behalf, ”he said.
Later in the day, Dar said he had spoken to Ahmad after arriving at Islamabad from Malaysia.
“Senator MUSHTAQ is fine and in a high mood. I pay tribute to the courage and standator Mushtaq to be part of the Sumud flotilla in support of the Palestinian case, to break the siege to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza. Security in Amman by Pakistan -Ambassaden.
“Arrangement has been by Pakistan Foreign Office for the Return of Senator Mushtaq to Pakistan on October 9th.”
Ahmad himself released a video in his X account after his release, describing harsh conditions in Israeli custody and repeating his commitment to the Palestinian case.
