- Free ad-supported channels are now available on ROKU TVs and streaming devices

Roku has added stacks with new free channels to viewers in the UK, and Line-up includes some well-known names including Deal or No Deal, PGA Tour Golf and MLB.
All 40 of the new channels are available now and you can find them in the ROKU channel and alive -tv zone on your Roku TV or Roku Streamer. You don’t have to sign up for anything or install additional apps.
The arrival of these channels was first announced in September, and although it is a due addition-Roku has long offered free ad supported TV channels in the US, Canada and South America-I would like to see more channels that have soon added to make the live TV section worth visiting.
What channels do British Roku users get?
Roku has erected a dozen highlights in the new live TV section (the full line-up is here). And they are:
- Sport: PGA TOUR, TNA WRESTLING, MLB
- Entertainment: Deal or no deal, fear factor
- Drama: The bold and the beautiful
- Home: Martha Stewart -Canal, this old house
- Crime and Medical: Unresolved mysteries, countless stories about are
- Nature & Wildlife: Naturetime, love pets
Although it is nice to get more free things, there is a clear “20th page of the EPG” mood for the channels stated. And if this is the best, it means that Roku is still hanging behind Amazon, whose four TV Live channels also include British TV stations such as BBC and ITV. They are not among the live TV selection at Roku.
Of course, you can still get these channels at Roku. But you need individual apps to do it. And that means the Live TV section doesn’t feel like a one-stop go-to place for all your favorite channels and shows as it should be if Roku wants to make money selling ads in it.
Hopefully this means that this is the beginning of a number of British improvements and that more will be coming soon.
