- A recently published patent shows Samsung Tri-Fold
- It folds inward and has three separate batteries built -in
- The smartphone could be launched by the end of October
We have spent all year waiting for Samsung Tri-Fold to be officially revealed when it was only teased back in January, but a launch seems to be imminent and a newly published patent filed in Samsung’s homeland in South Korea may have revealed its final design.
This patent was discovered by Galaxyclub (via Sammobile) and there are a few interesting bit of information to be deducted from it. First, it shows what may be the final design of the collapse, with two hinges for the screen and three display segments.
As previously rumored, the handset is folded inward, unlike the Huawei Mate XT Tri-Fold-so, another display has been required to the outside when the handset is closed. One of the hinges is slightly larger as it must be folded over two sections of the unit.
In addition, we can see that there are three batteries here: one in each of the folded segments, and each of a different size. We expect this to be a relatively thin device, something like this patent application backs up, and it is reassuring to see Samsung try its best to maximize the life of the battery considering the limitations of the form factor.
Rumors so far
Unfortunately, we will not get any tips on the specifications or the features that this phone will bring from this patent, although a fairly standard Triple lining Sama system can be supported on the back and there is a USB-C port for charging and data transfer at the bottom that you could expect.
The patent was actually filed a year ago, although it has only been published and published. It matches what we already expected in terms of the design and how the complicated folding mechanism will work.
Previous leaks have pointed to a surprising set of features, including NFC and wireless charging, and a trademark filed by Samsung suggests this will be called Galaxy Z Trifold. It should also come up with some nice multitasking tricks.
The last question is when we actually have to see it. Samsung has promised that Tri-Fold will actually see the light of day before the end of the year, while a recent leak suggests a launch at the end of this month. It is not clear if the handset will be widely available internationally, but we hope so.
