Sindh-Home Minister Zia-Ul-Hasan Lanjar on Friday revealed that two key-ring leaders of the Lyari-Banden-Wasiullah Lakho and Abdul Samad Kathiawari in the moment resides in Iran, confirming that efforts are underway to bring them back to Pakistan for facial testing.
When we spoke at a press conference at the Karachi policy office with Sindh -Inspector General Ghulam Nabi Memon and further ig Karachi Javed Alam Odho, Lanjar said the provincial government has written to the Ministry of the Interior to issue Red Warrants for the suspected arrest.
He said extortion remains a serious problem in Karachi, but assured that law enforcement authorities are actively working to protect business. “Special Investigation and District Police units have taken decisive actions against those who emit threats to traders,” he said, adding that four details have been killed while three others were arrested in the wounded state of recent operations.

Lanjar said Kathiawari had operated from Iran and that a dedicated web portal has been launched by the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) for traders to file complaints directly.
For the purpose of the Punjab government, the domestic minister claimed that Dacoits looted travelers for eight hours on a Punjab motorway without media coverage, while Sindh’s highways remained safe. “Sindh police officers work extensively at all levels. Our highways remain peaceful – without convoys – as opposed to parts of Punjab as Multan,” he noted.
When he approached the question of bandits in river areas (Kacha), Lanjar warned that there would be “no easing” against banning and said such criminals only surrender when confronted by force. He said several of them carry coatings ranging from RS500,000 to RS10 million. “Any criminal surrender will still face the law – there will be no amnesty,” he added, referring to a new policy framed by the Sindh Chief Minister.
Inspector General Ghulam Nabi Memon said the special branch has issued lists that identify several people involved in organized crime and drug dealers-inclusive 232 ‘A-category’ criminals and others dealing with delivering drugs to educational institutions and through online channels. He said 80 percent of named have already been arrested.
“Every time the police perform such crashes, criticism arises from known quarters,” he noted, noting that kidnapping for ransom in Sindh has fallen to single digits in recent months. “At present, only two cases in Karachi and one in Ghotki are under investigation,” he added.

Further IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho said the recent increase in extortion events was effectively slowed down, with more than 20 suspects arrested, five killed and four wounded in the last two weeks. He said 118 extortion -related cases were registered this year, of which only 44 were verified as real, while others were bound to financial disputes.
“Both Wasiullah Lakho and Abdul Samad Kathiawari will soon be brought to justice,” Odho said, adding that Karachi’s total crime situation has shown significant improvement this year – with street crime down 28 percent, mobile, which snapped 15 percent, car theft 19 percent and motorcycle snapped 8 percent.
He said that all cases involving attacks on the police personnel have been resolved, with the arrest of the suspects leading to stops in targeted assault on law enforcement authorities.
