Imran Khan says that KP -Management Change ‘Inevitable’

Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf founder Imran Khan has said that the change of Chief Minister in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa was inevitable under the circumstances of the provincial, warning that any interference from outside would be met with strong protests.

In a message from Adiala Prison sent on X on Thursday, the PTI founder said the change of Chief Minister was inevitable and it is a constitutional process that also takes place in other provinces in the country.

“No one should interfere so that this process can be completed as soon as possible. If anyone tries to intervene, there will be a robust protest,” warned Imran.

He said the selection of Sohail Afridi reflected the long connection of Afridi with student policy, ISF and PTI’s ideology, and that the decision reinforced the party’s story of including grassroots workers in the decision making rather than trusting elections.

Imran rejected proposals connecting the provincial Chief Minister’s change of his family members and called such claims “completely false”. “This was a complete political decision where no member of my family had any influence. No family member has any role in my political decisions,” he said.

He described Ali Amin Gandapur as an old and loyal colleague, but said he was involved in controversy.

“2025 has been the worst year in Pakistan’s history in terms of terrorist incidents, and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa cannot carry this situation anymore,” he said, adding his hope that the new chief minister and his team would work with elected representatives to adopt a comprehensive policy aimed at removing terrorism and ensuring that good peace.

Imran said he has designated a clear strategy to combat terrorism for two decades, and by following the strategy, the PTI government had controlled the threat of terrorism to a large extent during his three and a half years’ rule.

He said the party had gathered with the then Ashraf Ghani government and reached an understanding of tribal communities and Afghan refugees through dialogue.

He criticized the recent claims that contemporary terrorism in the country were the result of militants allegedly settled under his government and called the accusation “completely false”.

Imran also claimed that politically motivated cases were continuously filed against him. “Basic cases and little ones have been filed against me and my wife, Bushra Begum, including Toshakhana, Al-Qadir and Cypher Cases, among others to force me to submission and make me give up my decision for real freedom,” he added.
