A football match in high school ended in chaos after police deployed pepper spray in an attempt to mitigate verbal and physical quarrels.

Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School football team from St. Louis traveled nearly 500 miles to Massillon, Ohio, and it turned into a nightmare of a trip.

Cardinal Ritter fell to Massillon High School 28-14 in what is said to be a chippy, physical game all night.

Tensions cooked over during the handshake Postgame, where several players had to be separated, which used pepper spray.

Police said the officers involved “operated within our policies and procedures.”
