Arattai Messenger has quickly become one of the most downloaded apps in the world and crosses the 5 million brand within days of launch.
The Insant Messanger -App, developed in India as part of Zoho’s new Messaging platform, reflects both an increase in local pride and growing interest in alternatives to established communication platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram and Messenger.
Arattai has already surpassed popular apps such as Telegram, Messenger and Snapchat, each of which has about 2 million downloads on the global chart for October 2025.
An ambitious homework challenge

By minimizing resource demand, Zoho has opened access to digital communication for users who may otherwise be excluded from platforms that require faster speeds or higher end devices.
This focus on accessibility gives Arattai an advantage in markets where data on affordable prices and unit capacity still limits technology uptake.
Despite his progress, Arattai is facing criticism for lack of full end-to-end encryption in text chats.
While the app offers encrypted voice and video calls, it does not yet give complete encrypted messages to standard conversations.
Instead, Zoho depends on localized data storage and promises that user data will not be shared externally.
Security experts claim that this lacks modern privacy expectations, as server -based encryption still provides potential access to message data from providers or external attackers.
For a platform aimed at competing with WhatsApp, it is not optional to achieve full end-to-end security; It is important for credibility in a privately conscious digital world.
