If you stayed for the crucial game 5 between Seattle Mariners and Detroit Tigers, it was worth every second.

In a game that lasted about five hours and ended after 1 AM, the Marines are on their way to their first American Liga Character Series in 24 years after a 3-2 win in a 15-in-in-in marathon.

Both teams were kept scoreless from the top of the eighth through the top of the 15th, but Mariners finally pulled through with Jorge Polanco’s base-loaded single to send them to the ALCs and end the longest winning-take-all game in history.

Detroit wasted an excellent performance of Tarik Pushal, who knocked out 13 while throwing six laps of one-run ball. The soon-to-be two-cycle Award Award winner was taken out of the game with a 2-1 lead, and Tigers’ Bullpen allowed to bind immediately in the seventh.

It did not help cases that the tigers went 1-for-9 with runners in the scoring position and left 10 on the base, with their only two races coming on a two-run home drive of Kerry Carpenter in the sixth. Seattle was hardly better and left a dozen on, but they were the ones who came through.

The phrase “Everyone is available in October” was well used. After both starters, George Kirby and Pushal, left the game, three other starters were used. The Tigers made Jack Flaherty go two days of two days of rest, while both Logan Gilbert (also two days) and Luis Castillo, the winning pitcher, got something.

“I know we played a long game, but this team never gave up,” Polanco said. “I know there are a lot of feelings, but we always try to keep it simple. I’m just trying to go out there and play and try to get the victory.”

“Just an incredible ball game from top to bottom,” said Mariners Manager Dan Wilson.

“It was such a tough evening,” said Seattle -Catcher Cal Raleigh. “Everyone put their other things side and did everything for the team, including Logan and Luis.” It was Gilbert’s first relief excursion since 2017 when he was at Stetson University.

Detroit’s season officially ended in heartache with a touch of what could have been, as this series would probably have taken place in Michigan. The tigers had a double -digit lead in all central in early September, but spread it. They saved it by removing Cleveland Guardians, who hosted the Wild Card series after overtaking Detroit in the position, but it is definitely now how they imagined going home.

Mariners are now facing Toronto Blue Jays for Pennant, and a whole generation of fans will see one of these teams in the World Series for the first time. Blue Jays has not been in the fall Classic since 1993, while the marines have never reached it past the ALCs.

Game 1 is Sunday in Toronto at. 20:03 et.
