San Francisco 49ers Star Linebacker Fred Warner suffered a cruel ankle injury that led him to get an air cast and drove off the field against Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon.
The damage occurred midway through the first quarter when Buccaneers, who runs back Rachaad White, picked up a 10-yard race with Ji’ayir Brown, tackling him. But while he made the piece to turn white down on the grass, Brown rolled into Warner, and it looked like his ankle was caught under his body.
A video review showed the brutal nature of the injury, and both 49ers and Buccaneers players moving to the sidelines to get medical staff to get out quickly. Buccaneers recipient Tez Johnson was one of them, and he even put his hands on his helmet in disbelief after watching Warner’s injury close.

It didn’t take long for the 49ers’ medical team to put an air cast on Warner and he was on the back of a wagon on his way to the tunnel. Warner seemed in disbelief as he stared at the field.
If the damage is severe enough to end Warner’s season, it would be another critical defensive piece for this 49ers team that lost the rest of the season.

San Francisco already lost Star Defensive End Nick Bosa, who tore his ACL in week 3 against Arizona Cardinals. Warner, the middle linebacker, a defensive captain of the 49s, would be a massive loss.

Warner entered this game that led the 49s in tackles (50) as well as being number two on the team in passport defended (3). Warner has also forced two fumbles and restored one this season.

The eight-year-old veteran from Byu has collected at least 130 tackles in each season since 2021, which solidifies as one of the best linebackers in the NFL.
