Cincinnati Bengals Kicker Evan McPherson almost rewrote the NFL Record books on Sunday as he got up to a 67-yard field target to finish the first half against Green Bay Packers.
McPherson’s Kick knocked off the cross bar of the goal post and went through the sincers. Unfortunately, Packer’s head coach Matt Lafleur called a timeout before Kick went out and it didn’t count.
The longest field target in the NFL story is 66 yards, knocked in by the former Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker. McPherson put everything in the kick, and with a little help from the victory on his back, it would finally have put Bengals on the board.

Instead, McPherson was forced to try the kick again and he didn’t have the same muscle in his kick as it was a few feet short. Packers Cornerback Keisean Nixon had the opportunity to return the kick, but he didn’t come far when half ended.
While Tucker owns the record after hit the kick in 2021, Jacksonville Jaguar’s Kicker Cam Little hit a 70-yard field goal, but it was in a trouble play. So it stands as an unofficial record despite the incredible achievement.
At that time, Bengals could certainly have used these points as they fought for offense again, though they have a new quarterback under the middle.

Cincinnati did the surprising trade in their division rival Cleveland Browns to acquire veteran Joe Flacco as Jake Browning had not panned since Joe Burrow injury earlier in the season.
Head coach Zac Taylor hopes to have his offense go with Flacco at the helm, although the first half was no indication of such production.

The Bengals couldn’t put anything on the board while their defense kept Packers at only 10 points.
