After the return of Afghan citizens residing in the Afghan Basti, police officers have expressed concern that the vacant houses and land may be illegally occupied.
Dig West, Irfan Baloch, has warned that the Landmafia can try to seize the vacated plot in the Afghan camp area, which is within the Yellowhan-E-Maymar Police Station’s Jurisdiction.
In this regard, you have written a letter to the city’s police chief.
In his letter, Baloch suggested to form a joint committee consisting of officials from Malir Development Authority (MDA), the Deputy Commissioner’s Office and the police to conduct a land investigation and ensure that MDA immediately takes control of the vacated land.
The Digen noted that over 3,000 houses had been built in the Afghan camp, which accommodates about 15,000 Afghan citizens. Although most people have now returned to Afghanistan, approx. 1,500 individuals in the area.
Baloch called for the land -governing authority to immediately take over the unemployed homes and reasons to prevent illegal occupation or intervention in the area.
