- Soul Rebel is a compact turntable with plinth lighting and an Audio-Technica cartridge
- Rise Up is a cheaper all-in-one with fewer premium components
- Both models have Bluetooth in and out, and built-in speakers
House of Marley makes some impressive and affordable turntables, such as the Revolution: As we said in our review of that turntable, you get a pretty good turntable for a pretty low price: “There are some cheaper Bluetooth turntables out there, but none with the style and build quality of the Revolution.” And now the company has two new models to tempt you: Soul Rebel and Rise Up.
The Rise Up is an affordable all-in-one with built-in speakers, while the Soul Rebel is a more premium version with pedestal lighting and a better cartridge. And while none of them are going to upset the big names in audiophile gear, they can be among the best turntables for budget buyers.
House of Marley Soul Rebel and Rise Up turntables: key features and prices
The two turntables have a staggered launch, with Soul Rebel launching on October 25th and Rise Up launching on November 1st.
The Soul Rebel has a list price of $379.99 (approx £280 / AU$580) and is designed for small spaces with a clean and compact design with under-plinth lighting to help set the mood. It has an Audio-Technica AT3600L stylus, which is a familiar sight in this price range, and it has Bluetooth in and out so you can play to it from your phone or send audio to some of the best Bluetooth headphones. It has a metal plate and the built-in speakers.
The Rise Up costs $199.99 (about £150 / AU$300) and comes with a ruby ceramic stylus, a plastic plate and Bluetooth in and out again, plus speakers. It is clearly aimed at the vinyl novice.
Both models are made from natural bamboo and mixed recycled plastic and come in 100% plastic-free recyclable packaging.
UK pricing and availability is yet to be confirmed for these two models, but House of Marley tends to have dollar/pound parity – for example, the aforementioned Revolution turntable is currently $149 in the US and £149 in the UK – so although I’ve given converted currency amounts above, expect final UK prices to vary.
