President Asif Ali Zardari met with Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, on Friday. The President praised the League’s efforts to counter extremism and Islamophobia and highlighted its growing cooperation with Pakistan in education, women’s empowerment and humanitarian relief.
He described the MWL-hosted International Conference on Girls’ Education in Muslim Societies, held earlier this year in Islamabad, as a major step towards strengthening the intellectual and moral foundations of the Muslim world. The President also noted the jointly inaugurated Seerat-un-Nabi Museum as a symbol of shared reverence for the life and message of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).

President Zardari welcomed the proposed cooperation agreement between MWL and Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony and emphasized the importance of a coordinated approach in health, education and humanitarian work. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the Palestinian cause and appreciated the peace efforts led by Saudi Arabia and the MWL, including recent initiatives aimed at achieving a lasting ceasefire, Israeli withdrawal and reconstruction of Gaza.
Describing Pakistan’s relationship with Saudi Arabia as historic and rooted in mutual faith and respect, the President expressed optimism about expanding cooperation in defense, trade, investment and energy.

Dr. Al-Issa said Pakistan has a special place in the hearts of the Saudi people and called the recent defense cooperation agreement between the two nations a reflection of deep trust and strategic partnership. He also paid tribute to late Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and praised President Zardari’s political career.
The meeting was attended by several officials including Senator Sherry Rehman and Maulana Tahir Ashrafi. The engagement reaffirmed Pakistan’s intention to deepen cooperation with global Islamic welfare bodies such as the MWL and to promote dialogue, tolerance and humanitarian cooperation.
