The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued its fourth tropical cyclone watch after a depression developed over the east-central Arabian Sea, although it confirmed that there is currently no threat to any Pakistani coastal area.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s (PMD) Tropical Cyclone Warning Centre, the weather system has been moving north-northwest during the past 24 hours and was located near latitude 16.4°N and longitude 70.4°E, approximately 1,004 kilometers south-southeast of Karachi and about 400 kilometers southwest of Mumbai, India.
The department said the depression is expected to continue moving northwest over the east-central Arabian Sea during the next 24 hours.
The PMD added that its Cyclone Warning Center in Karachi is closely monitoring the system and will continue to update relevant authorities, including the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and provincial administrations in Sindh and Balochistan.
At present, the department stressed that no Pakistani coastal area faces any cyclone-related risk.
